How does one measure Quality of Life impacts?
Decisions made about land use affect our quality of life. Quality of life impacts can be measured by looking at schools, crime, community atmosphere, emergency services, historic and archaeological resources, conservation, noise, odor, open space preservation, bicyle and walk-ability, parks and recreation, poverty, property ownership, taxes and value, schools, traffic, visual impacts and wildife habitat. An excellent resource to help you evaluate the impacts of a development proposal or land use change on your quality of life is: How to Win Land Development Issues, a 300 page document that can be found online at the Community & Environmental Defense Services, website
